Note on other newsletters…

I have had a tremendous response from you all with regard to this newsletter. Due to that response and to the fact that I am on the road constantly, I am - for the time-being – discontinuing the “Management Success” and “Selling Success” newsletters.  These newsletters take quite a bit of time to compose, and I wanted to focus on what my readership wants most – which is proven personal success ideas and information.

However, if you go to, you will find a number of articles on the topics of sales and management. Some of which have been written by me, as well as many others.

Contest News: In a recent “Sign-up to our Newsletter Contest,” we had so many subscribers, that instead of choosing one winner of the free gift (the “10 Steps To Help You Bring Your Desires to Reality” audio CD), we chose 4! Winners will be notified be email.

Here’s the new contest. Forward this newsletter to 5 friends or associates. Encourage those 5 people to log onto my site: and sign up for this newsletter. (This newsletter is an opt-in, opt-out newsletter, so people must sign up for themselves.) Then email to me the email addresses of these people. (I will not contact them in any way.) This will allow me to keep track of who sent the most that opted-in to this newsletter. Email me at

Whoever has the most people opt-in to receive this free monthly newsletter will win: a free copy of my best selling book, “Masters of Motivation,” and a free copy of either Rick Warren’s best seller, “Purpose Driven Life” or Joel Osteens’ best seller, “Your Best Life Now.”

That’s over $20.00 in free gifts that you can keep or give away as a gift to someone else!

Remember, people have to opt-in for this newsletter for them to count and you must let me know the email of those that you sent to sign-up. (Again, I will not contact them in any way.) Email me at

Guard your thoughts

They once asked Bruce Lee, the famous martial arts movie star, his opinion on negative thoughts. He said, “Negative thoughts are like weeds in your garden. You must pull them out by the roots and destroy them.”

You can’t think negative thoughts and expect a positive outcome. In my book, “Masters of Motivation,” I share information from James Allen who wrote the masterpiece, “As a Man Thinketh.” (By man, Allen meant both man and woman.) Allen stated that thinking negative thoughts and expecting a positive outcome was similar to planting apple seeds and expecting tomatoes.

It sounds silly that someone would plant apple seeds and expect a tomato, but that is what people do with their thoughts all the time. They plant seeds of negativity and doubt and then expect success and happiness. It won’t work. Why? Because it’s a Universal Law. By that I mean that everything in the Universe abides by specific laws. This particular Universal law is called Cause and effect. (For more detailed information on the Law of Cause and Effect and its importance to your life, go to

Planting apple seeds is the cause; the effect will be an apple tree. Planting seeds of negativity in your mind is the cause; the effect is a negative experience.

If you think you won’t get the raise, you won’t. If you think that you won’t make the sale, you won’t. If you think that you will never be able to drive the car of your dreams or live in the house you desire, you won’t.

However, if you think that you will get the raise, make the sale, or get that dream car, you eventually will. If you think the right thoughts.

Here is an exercise that I share in my workshops and in my new audio CD, “10 Steps To Help You Bring Your Desires To Reality.” It’s called, “Think About What You Think About.” The focus of this exercise is on helping you become the master of your thought activity.

1. Look for the patterns of thought or self-talk that has become habitual, as you think about your goal or interact with others. For example, when you are criticized by others or when others give you their negative opinion about your desires or goals - what thoughts automatically come into your mind?

Do you rationalize by saying, “They really didn’t mean it” or “I’ll pretend I didn’t

hear that comment.”

Do you counter-attack by stating, “I must be right, because I know they’re wrong!”

Do you feel sorry for yourself and cry, “Why did they say that?” or “No one ever likes what I do.”

2. Now ask yourself:

“Are my reactions of my own choosing or am I responding as I was taught?”

“Am I defending who I am by justifying what I did?”

“Is my response to always protect myself?”

List some of the negative opinions or criticisms of others that you can remember. List some of the negative thoughts that you give yourself, when you think about your goals or desires. Write these thoughts down. Now write what you would normally say in response either to others or yourself.

Examine your responses. Undoubtedly, many will be automatic responses based on your past. It’s time to put away the past and deal with the present and move on to a glorious future. To do that, determine if you need to modify your responses so that you can react in a more positive way.

By listening to the working of our minds, we begin to live at a level above the automatic reaction of previous programming. We now live at a place of conscious choosing. Making our own choices requires a dedication to the uniqueness of self. It is assuming mastery over one’s own life. It is living in the NOW.

Mark Twain once said, “You have to take your brain out and dance on it.” In other words, you need to give your mind some downtime tonight, if you want to have a more productive tomorrow. With that said are you a person who spends weekends and evenings worrying about business? Do you think about meetings, emails, and office politics? If so, it’s time to learn how to use your free-time more productively. Not only is your time away from the concerns of the workplace necessary, but a rested mind is more efficient and productive.

Dr. Barbara Mackoff describes a number of techniques to help you leave work at the workplace in her book, “The Art of Self-Renewal: Balance Pressure and Productivity On and Off the Job” (Lowell House, 1992).

One of the first steps is learning how to leave in the evening – shifting from the fast, demanding pace of the workplace to the more relaxed rhythms of the home. Try these ideas for making the transition easier:

  1. End the day with the low-pressure work. In your last hour of work, you may be doing your most demanding tasks. If the day ends in this kind of stressful rush, you’re bound to take that intensity home with you. Instead, try to end the day with easier, less pressured work. Clear your desk, put stuff away, read professional literature. Even better, this is a great time to return phone calls or emails. (Don’t you hate it when people don’t return your calls or emails? I’m sure that you do, so don’t do it to other people. If calling back takes too much time, then send an email. Keep your replies short and friendly. No one is that busy that they can’t return emails.)
  1. Make a list of what you need to do the next day or the beginning of next week. Alleviate apprehensions you feel about tomorrow by setting up your plan right now. List everything you want to do. Decide if any tasks can be delegated or handled later in the week. Then assign a priority to each item and preferred time of day to tackle it. Before I go to sleep, I take a notepad and write everything down that I need to do the following day. (Sometimes this list can be two full pages!) The next day, as I finish each task, I not only feel a wonderful sense of accomplishment, but I also am amazed at how much work I’ve done.
  1. Create a closing ceremony, a routine you will perform every day before you leave. Tear a page from the wall calendar and drop it into the waste bucket; log off the computer; ask co-workers about plans for the evening, put a sign up in your office or cubicle that reads, “I’m here, you just can’t see me!” or “Gone home.” No matter how simple the closing ceremony, it has the power to indicate the day is done and your evening or weekend has begun.

Start tonight and take your brain out for a dance. Not only will you have a more productive tomorrow, but there’s also no cover charge and you don’t even have to dress up! What could be better than that?

A MOTIVATIONAL MOMENT - Can You Keep a secret?

The art of magic dates back thousands of years ago. Some of the earliest known magicians were shamans. Shamans were the members of the tribe who were held in the highest esteem, because they were believed to have the power to communicate with both worlds –the world of the living and the world of the unknown.

Their air of secrecy as to “how they did the things that they did” provided them with not only security for their personal life, but also confidence and power. They were viewed by the rest of their tribe with awe.

Relating to your desires and dreams, you can achieve a level of mystique by not telling other people about them. As soon as you tell others what you are planning to do and/or the details behind your plan – you lose your power, air of mystique.

When you tell others about your dreams and aspirations, you open yourself up to their thoughts and opinions - many of which may be negative, cynical and/or critical. You don’t need others’ negativity nor do you necessarily need their opinion or permission.

Challenge: When you know what your goal is and have developed a plan of action, try to keep this information to yourself.  If have one or two close friends/relatives whom you know are always “on your side,” you may share your thoughts with them; however, for the majority of the people that you know…let your actions speak louder than your words.

As Confucius once said, “Silence is a friend who will never betray you.”

Busy, busy, busy.

I'm at lots of trade shows and meetings and next year is also filling up fast. Additionally, my associates are also working hard and will be at a number of shows this fall.

My associates and I are specialists. By that, I mean we specialize in mixing a business or motivational message with magic and fun at worldwide corporate functions - trade shows, meetings and events. That's all we do. We are not general practitioners that perform at a variety of places - only corporate functions. Just like when you go to a doctor, there is a world of difference between a general practitioner and a specialist. If the outcome that you desire is critical (such as at a trade show), you want a magician/spokesperson who can attract crowds to your booth and get you targeted leads. Or at a meeting for customers or employees, if you want a speaker who is not only entertaining, but also has proven and powerful content - then you want a specialist.

Again, if the outcome that you desire is important (and when in business is the outcome not important?) get a specialist. That’s us. So, give us a call now!

I will be featured in another major news publication, very soon. Can’t tell you which one, because it’s a secret until it hits the newsstands! (Did you read the Wall Street Journal article on how I make the trade shows for CGI-AMS more successful? If not, click here:
