Staying Calm In a Panicked World

The current economic condition, the election, the war, the housing problems are just a few of the things that are making us feel panicky and fearful, as well as negative and angry. As more and more people begin to embrace these emotions, it would be a good idea for you to momentarily disengage yourself from the masses.

You must recapture your sense of peace and calm. You must recapture your own power and confidence. To do that, you must find some time to be still.

When you are alone, stand up straight and take in a few deep breathes. Then - beginning at your shoulders - take your hands brush them down from your shoulders to your chest. Think of “brushing dirt” off your chest and shoulders. This movement is called “cleansing.” Healers (and those more psychically attuned) use this cleansing process between patients to remove from themselves the negative vibrations of others.

Once you have cleansed yourself, sit down and be quiet. Close your eyes and breathe deeply and slowly. Connect with your higher power by repeating “I am one with you” or “Peace is returning to me.” You may also just focus on your breathing, count backwards from 25, etc. If your mind strays, bring it back. The important point is to be still.

Once you begin to do this, you will find that you cherish your time of stillness. When you return to your work or “the physical world,” you will feel a sense of peace and confidence, even when those around you are stressing out.

If you can do something to alleviate the fears and worries of the world, please do so; however, most of us can do very little. Help others when you can, but first and foremost – learn to disengage from all the ugly thinking which becomes so prevalent in darker times.
