Oftentimes, people will tell me that they are trying to achieve a goal, be more successful or live a more rewarding life, but they don’t know if they are doing everything that they should be doing to achieve that goal.

My response to them is “On what are you depending on to achieve your goals?” If they say getting a new job or a promotion, finding a soul mate, closing a big deal, inheriting money, etc, then I tell them that they are depending on the wrong thing. You have setup a criterion of requirements that limit you. It’s inevitable that you will end up worrying or being stressed, as you wait for an exterior circumstance to take place, for you are depending on other people or events, instead of depending on the power that is within you.

Make sure that you have a worthwhile goal. How do you know? If your goal does not harm any other living creature and includes goodness for others in some way, than it is a worthwhile goal. For example: If your goal is to write a book that others will learn from or enjoy – that is a worthwhile goal. If you want to be the top sales person at your company - as long as you do it by helping your customers achieve their goals, you not only help them, but also help your family and your company be more successful – that is a worthwhile goal.

Hold a mental picture of your goal as an already accomplished fact, even though you can’t see it as such. You have to depend on your “inner knowing” (faith) that want you want to achieve is achievable.

In the book of James 2:20, it says, “Faith without works is dead.” What James was saying is that if you don’t act on what you believe and say or if you say one thing and then act a different way, then you are just giving lip service. You can say that you want to achieve a goal, but unless you have faith in or believe that what you want to happen will happen and then work toward making that want a reality, you’re just giving lip service.

You have to act on the opportunities that arise and you must do so from a position of power. Look at each opportunity and ask yourself, “Will this opportunity bring me closer to accomplishing my goal or take me away from it?” Jump on the opportunities that will take you toward your goal and dismiss the others until a later time.

Depending on other people or circumstances in order for your goal to become reality puts you in an “un-powerful” position. However, relying on yourself, believing in yourself and taking right action allows you to retain your power and helps you to move confidently toward your goal.

Please forward this ezine to others. By helping others turn their dreams into reality, you help yourself.
