Change the way you think. Create magic in your life!™

Just got back in the office from NY, San Francisco, and Atlanta. In New York, I was with the great folks at Cognizant for the second year in a row at the National Retail Show.

In San Francisco, I delivered my motivational presentation, "Make the Magic Happen" for Calypso's highly productive sales force and then jetted off to Atlanta to deliver my 45-minute "ESP - Expect Something Phenomenal" for Manhattan Associates' Global Sales Kick-off at the Georgia Tech Center. I'm looking forward to being at the Manhattan Associates' User Conference in May.

In addition to my travels, we are recording our new 2 disc CD on creating abundance and prosperity in your life. We hope to have it completed by the end of next month, and all subscribers will get a special discount.

Also, I will be adding some new podcasts to my podcast site: If you haven't been there to take a listen, I encourage you to do so!

Hope that you enjoy this month's article on the "As If" principle. I know from experience that it can help you to move forward on your journey to personal success.

Until next time,

William James, the father of modern psychology said, “If you want a quality, act as if you already had it.” I call it the “As If” principle. If you have listened to my audio CD, “10 Steps to Help You Bring Your Desires to Reality,” you know that the “As If” principle is one of the life-changing strategies that I share with you. Briefly, here are a few reasons why the “As If” principle is so powerful.

It’s generally agreed that humans think in pictures. We create images in our mind, not lists. Therefore, to realize a goal, you must first create a picture of you achieving that goal in your mind. That picture is first developed in your conscious mind and then sent to the subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between a real or imagined experience. As you may know, your thoughts, both negative and positive, end up in your subconscious mind. Through repetition of that thought and similar thoughts, eventually those thoughts become some form of reality in your life.

By creating a picture in your mind of what you want to accomplish, you aid your subconscious mind in bringing your primary thought to reality.

Creating a picture in your mind as to how you would look, act, and speak “when your goal becomes a reality” not only strongly reinforces your goal in your subconscious mind, but it also allows you to become what you envision. You begin to develop the qualities of the person that you want to become. You will begin to take advantage of opportunities that will appear that allow your goal to become reality. You will begin to act with more confidence and control. In short, you will begin to become the person that you desire and, therefore, achieve your ultimate goal more efficiently and quickly.

Look at what you want to accomplish and research others who are currently doing it. Uncover the qualities of that person. How does that person look, act, speak, etc.

Picture in your mind your having those same qualities.

Begin to inculcate that picture into your daily activities. To paraphrase Mr. James, develop the qualities of the person that you want to become and you will move in the direction of becoming that person. The “As If” principle is a powerful strategy for success that will help you turn your desires into reality.
