What lies within us is the amazing power of our mind. To be more exact, it is our thoughts that have all the power. It amazes me how many people don't truly understand how powerful our thoughts are to our overall health, wealth, and happiness in life.
In my presentation, "Make the Magic Happen," some of my key-points are: "Thoughts are things" and "Your thoughts shape the circumstances that direct your destiny." I try to drive this important point home - whether my audience is made up of executives and employees of Fortune 1000 corporations or members of leading associations or thought-conscious organizations. The reason is because I firmly believe that many people look outward for help and guidance and blame luck (or bad luck) or something or someone else for their not achieving their desires.
The solution to their problems is found on the inside - in their mind. What a person has achieved in life - good or bad - is due to what they have thought about in the past. Now, I understand that sometimes things happen to us for which we have no explanation. However, the majority of the time - to paraphrase James Allen's words from "As a Man Thinketh" in my book, "Masters of Motivation" - if a person looks at a particular situation in his or her life and then traces his or her actions back to the situation's beginning, they will invariably find a thought.
In essence, Allen is referring to cause and effect. The effect is your current situation in life; the cause was the thought that began the process that ultimately led to the effect. People can understand the Universal Law of Cause and Effect as it applies to other things in life such as: If you plant seeds of corn, you will ultimately harvest corn, not apples.
However, to get people to see that the same Universal Law applies to them and their life such as: If you plant seeds of (or think about) success, then you will open up the unlimited possibilities that God, the Universal Principle or whatever you want to call IT has for you and you will ultimately harvest success. Conversely, if you plant seeds of (or think about) lack or negativity, you will harvest lack and negativity.
Having achieved what I have in life through the proper use of this law is why I know that it works. My goal is to share this information with as many people as possible, so that they too can Make the Magic Happen in their life. I try and show my audience how their mind and thoughts work from a scientific standpoint, and how they can use this information to achieve anything that they truly "WANT TO" achieve.
I say, "WANT TO" because all the knowledge in the world won't help you achieve your desires without some form of action to back up that knowledge. You've probably heard the old saying, "Knowledge is power." I disagree. Knowledge plus action is power."
Unfortunately, this information is not taught in schools or our colleges and universities. They seem to be more concerned with athletics. (Their never seems to be a shortage of money for sports, but they have to have fundraisers to buy books and supplies for students. This has been going on for along time. Many institutions "strive" to prepare a student for life, yet most fail miserably. How many people do you know who have graduated with a degree and never went into that line of work or if they did it was for a very short time and then they left to begin a new job elsewhere?
Instead the focus should be on preparing a student's mind so that they may follow the path that will allow them to achieve their goals and desires. However, unless there is a major change in the way higher institutions do business - it is a business, you know - it is up to each one of us to independently learn how to, in the words of Ernest Holmes, "Prepare your mind to receive the best that life has to offer."
The definition of "the best" is as numerous as there are people wanting to achieve it. For some, "the best" means having their own business, writing books, being in shape, or becoming wealthy. To others it means spending more time with the family or helping their community or place of worship. Whatever your idea is of "the best"- it is obtainable.
The first step to realizing "the best" that life has to offer is to, as Holmes said, prepare your mind. You must open up your mind to the wonderful opportunities that await you. Charles Fillmore once said, "Do not expect the unlimited to leap forth into full expression through the limited." In other words, don't expect to acquire the full abundance that life has to offer, if you place a limit on your thoughts.
Your thoughts act as a magnet and will bring to you whatever you desire. This is not magical or mystical by any means. In fact, it has been stated and restated throughout time. The greatest teachers of abundance and happiness have all placed a heavy emphasis on the mind and your thoughts.
In the Bible, Proverbs Chapter 23.7 it states, "As you thinketh in your heart, so shall you be." Jesus said in Matthew 21:22, "And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith." (prayer is thinking), and in Philippians 4.8 Jesus said, "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things."
In the Dhammapada, Buddha says, "Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think." In 10:80 of the Koran it states "We are the witnesses of all your thoughts and all your prayers and all your actions" and the statement, "Wherever the mind wanders, restless and diffuse in its search for satisfaction without, lead it within; train it to rest in the Self," is found in The Bhagavad-Gita: 6:26.
The list of secular people who have stated their belief in the power of the mind and your thoughts and how they affect your life is endless. Can all these people be wrong? No.
So, it is up to you to decide if you are going to tap into "what lies inside" you. Tap into the power that you have to create the life that you desire; the power to take what you want out of life as opposed to taking what life gives you. It's up to you to learn about the power of your mind; how your mind works and how your thoughts work.
